Food & Chakra Associations

There is a belief in some spiritual and alternative health practices that associate certain colours with the body’s chakras, which are said to be energy centres that correspond to different parts of the body and different aspects of a person’s life. While there is no scientific evidence to support this belief, here are some common associations that have been made between food colours and chakras:

  1. Root Chakra - Red: Foods that are naturally red in colour, such as tomatoes, strawberries, and red bell peppers, are said to help balance the root chakra, which is associated with grounding, stability, and survival.

  2. Sacral Chakra - Orange: Orange foods, such as oranges, carrots, and sweet potatoes, are believed to help balance the sacral chakra, which is associated with creativity, sexuality, and emotional expression.

  3. Solar Plexus Chakra - Yellow: Yellow foods, such as lemons, bananas, and yellow bell peppers, are thought to help balance the solar plexus chakra, which is associated with personal power, self-confidence, and digestion.

  4. Heart Chakra - Green: Green foods, such as leafy greens, broccoli, and green apples, are said to help balance the heart chakra, which is associated with love, compassion, and emotional well-being.

  5. Throat Chakra - Blue: Blue foods, such as blueberries, blue corn, and blue potatoes, are believed to help balance the throat chakra, which is associated with communication, self-expression, and the ability to speak one’s truth.

  6. Third Eye Chakra - Indigo: Indigo foods, such as blackberries, purple grapes, and eggplant, are thought to help balance the third eye chakra, which is associated with intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness.

  7. Crown Chakra - Violet or White: Foods that are naturally violet or white, such as cauliflower, garlic, and onions, are said to help balance the crown chakra, which is associated with connection to the divine, higher consciousness, and enlightenment.

It’s important to note that these associations are not universally agreed upon and may vary depending on the source. Furthermore, there is no data from research to support the concept of eating to align the chakras.
